Live Plant Bunch – Hydrilla

Hydrilla is a fast and easy to grow bunch plant. Leaf shape is thin and sharp forming up the stem at short intervals. Once it reaches the surface it will form a thick mat as it spreads out. Trim regularly so not to block light for other plants.Hydrilla is native to Northern Australia. Can be kept in warm or cold water. Reproduction is from cutting and replanting side shoots. This is a great plant for a beginner.

Hydrilla can be used as floating plant or upright stem plant. Fish and fry hide in between the plant, it also absorbs nitrates from the water.
This fragile plant breaks easily, produces side shoots, which can be planted and will form individual plants. There are no specific requirements to keep this plant – it grows anywhere – light level medium.
